Drain potatoes in a colander and place drained potatoes back in pot. Add Smart Balance. Using a potato masher or the back of a fork, smash the potatoes. Add chicken broth, salt, pepper and garlic powder, to taste. Turn flame to medium. Continue to mash potatoes until fairly smooth and all ingredients are heated. They will be a little rustic due to the skins left on. Add more salt, pepper and garlic powder, to taste. Top with chopped scallions or chives, if desired.
