How to Make a Healthy Homemade Green Machine Juice
Step 1: Prepare the Fruit and Vegetables- Apple Prep: Peel, core, and seed 2 cups of apples, then cut them into chunks. Removing the core and seeds ensures a smoother juice.
- Kiwi Prep: Peel and slice 1 small kiwi.
- Banana Prep: Peel ½ small banana.
- Measure Ingredients: Have all other ingredients measured and ready: ¾ cup chilled pineapple juice, ½ cup frozen mango (not defrosted), ¾ cup broccoli florets, ¾ cup lightly packed fresh spinach, and ¾ cup lightly packed kale.
- Add to Blender: Place the apple chunks, ¾ cup chilled pineapple juice, ½ cup frozen mango, and ¾ cup broccoli florets into a high-powered blender.
- High-Speed Blend: Secure the blender lid and blend on the highest setting until the mixture is completely smooth. This initial blend creates a smooth base for the juice.
- Check Consistency: Ensure there are no large chunks remaining. Blend for an additional few seconds if needed.
- Introduce Greens: Add ¾ cup lightly packed fresh spinach, ¾ cup lightly packed kale, the sliced kiwi, and the ½ banana to the blended mixture.
- Continue High-Speed Blend: Blend on the highest setting again until the juice is completely smooth and all the greens are fully incorporated. This may take a little longer due to the fibrous nature of the greens.
- Smooth Texture Check: Ensure the juice has a consistent, smooth texture. If needed, blend for an extra 30 seconds.
- Thick Juice: This recipe creates a thick and creamy juice. If you prefer a thinner consistency, you can adjust it at this stage.
- Thinning Options: Add ¼ cup of apple juice or more pineapple juice to the blender.
- Final Blend: Blend for a few seconds until the added juice is fully incorporated and the desired consistency is achieved.
- Taste Test: Taste the juice and add more juice if needed to reach your desired thickness.
- Refrigerate: Pour the juice into an airtight container and store it in the refrigerator.
- Storage Duration: This juice will keep for several days in the refrigerator.
- Re-Mix Before Serving: Before serving, shake or stir the juice thoroughly, as some separation may occur during storage.
- Serve Cold: For the best taste and refreshing experience, serve the Green Machine Juice chilled.
- High-Powered Blender: A high-powered blender is essential for achieving a smooth texture with leafy greens.
- Frozen Mango: Using frozen mango helps to keep the juice cold and thick without the need for ice, which can dilute the flavor.
- Fresh Ingredients: Using fresh, high-quality ingredients will enhance the flavor and nutritional value of the juice.
- Adjust Sweetness: If desired, you can add a touch of honey or maple syrup for extra sweetness, although the natural sweetness of the fruits is usually sufficient.
- Variety of Greens: Feel free to experiment with different leafy greens, such as collard greens or Swiss chard, to vary the flavor and nutritional profile.
- Customization: You can add superfood powders, such as spirulina or chlorella, for an extra nutritional boost.

Tried this recipe?Let me know how it was!
Do you cook any of the vegetables before blending them?
Thanks!!
No cooking involved Jan. Everything goes in the blender raw.
All the best,
Nancy
What apples did you use? My non verbal son loves it, and has been drinking it for years too, he is 6 now.. excited to make my own.. what about adding spurlina? Thank you! Wendy
What apples did you use for recipe? I love this drink and so does my non verbal so, it’s been expensive buying it!
Wendy I usually use organic Gala or Fuji and when available, Envy.
I think you’ll really enjoy my copy-cat recipe!
My best,
Nancy
It’s such a healthy drink. Whenever I serve mine to kids, they love it. I hope your son does too.
Wendy, I’ve never added spirulina to mine.
Thank you it sounds yummy, and thanks for quick response!
Happy to help Wendy. Reach out any time!
Delicious! Just wish I knew how to get rid of the graininess
I’m glad to hear you enjoyed this, Kimra! As far as the graininess, maybe your blender isn’t powerful enough. You don’t need an expensive one either. Mine is an Oster but it’s quite powerful. Or, try to blend it longer. You can even add a few tablespoons of water to help blend it.
Best of luck!
Nancy
The cystine levels in this drink coupled with whipping cream for fat literally helps to reduce my son’s neurological issues!!!! He has autism. The broccoli, kale, and spinach are all full of cysteine and thyroid friendly nutrients. The fatty acids found in the mangos (ALA) and such help with brain function. It helps me tremendously with the MTHFR issues.
That’s such wonderful news, Michelle!
Wishing you both all the best,
Nancy
Very tasty. I’m starting off the new year with eating and drinking better. The only I issue I have with this is the texture. I actually took the time to add more juice and run it through a cheese cloth lol. I do not like pulp at all. I know I’m a big baby. But the flavor is very good.
You are right about the thickness, Stacy. That’s what I love about it. But I understand if you don’t like pulp.
Sorry!
My best,
Nancy
Have you ever tired a copycat recipe for V8? That’s what we drink in our house, but lately I haven’t been buying it because it’s gotten so expensive. Thanks for all the work you do to give us all these wonderful recipes.
I haven’t tried a copy-cat version of V8 but love the idea. Thank you! I’m going to see what I can come up with.
And thanks so much for your kind words. I so appreciate it, Rosa!
All the best,
Nancy
Thank you so much for this. My little guy is autistic and hates fruits and veggies. I add hemp seeds for more fat. Thanks a lot
I’m so glad this drink is working out for your son, Jasmine! I love the idea of adding hemp seeds.
All the best,
Nancy
This recipe is spot on! It never lasts long in our house.
